List of UEFA Super Cup winners
The UEFA Super Cup is an annual association football competition contested between the winners of the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League which was established in 1972. The competition was previously contested between the winners of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup Winners' Cup until 1999 when the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup was discontinued by UEFA. The last Super Cup in this format was the 1999 UEFA Super Cup between Lazio and Manchester United which Lazio won 1–0. The competition was originally played over two-legs, one at each participating club's stadium. Since the 1998 competition, the final has been a single match, played at a neutral venue, Stade Louis II in Monaco.[1]
Milan hold the record for the most victories, winning the competition five times since its inception. They are also the only team to have retained the UEFA Super Cup, doing so in 1990, after winning the previous competition in 1989.[1] Barcelona hold the distinction of being runners-up the most times, losing the competition four times. Teams from Italy have won the competition the most, with teams from the country winning the competition nine times. The current champions are FC Barcelona who beat Porto 2–0 to win the 2011 UEFA Super Cup.[2]

Notes
- a The 1972 final is not recognised by UEFA as an official title.[33]
- b The 1974 competition was abandoned, supposedly because the finalists could not find a mutually convenient date for the match,[33] but a political motivation has since been suggested, as West German powerhouse FC Bayern Munich would have been the opponent of East German FC Magdeburg. However, the two teams were drawn against each other in the first round of the European Cup, and Bayern won both matches.
- c The 1981 competition was not played because Liverpool could not find a suitable date due to fixture congestion.
- d For the 1984 competition only one match was played because Liverpool could not find another date to play Juventus.[33]
- e The 1985 competition was abandoned as Everton could not play, due to a ban on English clubs' participation in European football competitions.
- f For the 1986 competition, due to political circumstances, Steaua and Dynamo agreed to contest the fixture on a one-off basis. UEFA chose Stade Louis II as the neutral venue.[13]
- g For the 1991 competition only one match was played due to political circumstances in former Yugoslavia.
- h European champions Marseille were suspended due to a bribery scandal,[34] so Milan took their place as runner-up in the European Cup.[19]
